Session I: Generating Ideas for a New Business
Generating new business ideas can come through many forms. The best method is to first of all, assess what you're good at. When we’re born, our parents and caregivers give us our sense of values, morals, and expectations as to the person we are supposed to become. Sometime just our gender makes a difference. Sometimes birth order – maybe you’re not the heir, but the spare. Parents sometimes live through their children or put pressure on them to seek out certain professions. Our formal educational institutions have a curriculum they cover which may or may not cover topics that you have any interest in. So where do you learn how to become the person you want to become and start a company that fulfills your ambitions? We don’t have a list for what we want to become. You don’t get any advice or training on how to figure this out. You may have some vague ideas such as, “I want to help people” or “I want to be an entrepreneur”. You don’t know what you need in your life until you figure out who you are.

Session II: Tools for Validating Your Business Idea
In order to validate your idea, you can talk with friends and family, perhaps an advisor or mentor, and they may be willing to give you some seed money, but before you accept any money, you need to do your homework. Each lesson in this section will take you through an Excel spreadsheet that will help you validate your idea. Each part is important because it will enable you to understand not only the feasibility of your idea, but your competition, the industry and how you will plan, execute and make money on your business idea.
